Roland Institute Of Technology, Surya Vihar, Berhampur,[3] Orissa, India, is also known as RIT and was established in the year 2000, to impart degree courses in engineering under the Roland Educational & Charitable Trust. The prime objective of the Trust has been the promotion of facilities of technical education for people of South Orissa and around. It is ISO 9001:2000 certification and affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology(BPUT).[4]

The trust envisage to develop a center of Education Excellence in and around Berhampur comparable to the best in the country in short span of time. We strive that our students not only provide technical manpower to our industries, but also by their innovative skills, open vistas of new technologies, which may augment avenues of employment for others.
RIT seeks to fulfill the needs for creating special avenues for students to pursue their academic aspiration and thus enable them to assert their individuality, intellectual capability, economic independence and social standing. It depends to equip students with aptitude and ability to stand square and strive in building a progressive nation.
Admission[5] to different courses (B.Tech/MCA) of the University(BPUT) shall be based on criteria decided by the Academic Council of the University(BPUT). IT is done on the basis of rank secured in the Orissa Joint Entrance Examination(Orissa-JEE)[6] for engg.There shall be provision for direct admission for a limited number of NRI/FN students. Details of criteria shall be as per provisions in the rule formulated for the purpose. The University(BPUT) shall adopt the eligibility criteria as specified by AICTE/ UGC.

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like bridges, roads, canals, dams,and buildings. Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering,[4] and it was defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering.

The Training and Placement Department is a full-fledged department through which arrangements are made with reputed organizations to hold campus interviews and industrial training for the students. The students are sent by the department for industrial training so that the students gain a first hand knowledge of working in industries. The college hosts a number of on and off-campuses every year. The recent companies in which the students participated are Satyam, L & T Infotech,LionBridge, Subex, Infosys, I-flex, Zen technologies and a many more.... Overall for the 2009 batch, 36 students were placed in above companies and 71 students were placed at HUGHES consultancy.
The focal point of the Institute is its central library with all the necessary facilities. Presently it is equipped with 8116[8] volumes for 1568[8] titles of books and 58[8] Journals & magazines of national and international repute.
RIT is located on a picturesque campus in sylvan surrounding. At a distance of 13 km from Berhampur, Orissa and well connected with road and rail.
